Reids Plant Solicitors was set up in 1977, as M.A. Plant, by Margaret Plant, who specialises in Residential Conveyancing, and who was looking for greater flexibility and a more progressive approach to her working environment. In 1985, Carol Reid joined her, after maternity leave, from Mitchell, Caulkett & Coiley. In September 2008, the firm added a third fee earner, Anne Reid, from the prestigious Legal 500 firm Ellisons. On 15 September 2010, the firm changed its name to Reids Plant Solicitors when all three fee earners became partners. On 30th September 2015, Margaret retired after nearly 40 years of practice.
Although only a small firm, Reids Plant Solicitors earned recognition in the national law reports and the Law Gazette, (as M. A. Plant) when it made legal history in the House of Lords with the case of O’ Neill v Phillips in 1999, managed by Carol Reid. This case not only sparked debate between the DTI and the Law Commission, but also led to a new Companies Act being passed in 2002. Reids Plant Solicitors (and its previous name) has continued to earn success in a variety of cases in the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Reids Plant Solicitors, as a family-run firm, prides itself on combining a high quality, progressive attitude with a traditional personal service to its clients. We understand and cater to the different demands that are required for the commercial sector and individual needs. As a result, many of our clients have returned to us again and again for all sorts of different matters. Our aim is to provide support and assistance to all clients wherever you are and for all your needs - we will not refer you to another firm or department (where you would be at charged full rates by a different fee earner) unless in exceptional circumstances, so you can trust that your Solicitor will remain your Solicitor!
Whether you want to buy a house, draw up a contract, make a will, seek support during a divorce or simply get some employment advice, you can trust that you will receive straightforward, jargon-free advice and full support from a qualified solicitor. We have no “case workers”, call centres or referral companies, and we do not put you on a “conveyor belt”!
So if you have a query, pick up the phone and come in for a free half hour appointment, or, alternatively, drop us a line by email!
